Lectures on Philosophical Theology
Published in Paperback by Cornell Univ Pr (September, 1986)
Authors: Immanuel Kant, Allen W. Wood, and Gertrude M. Clark
Average review score:

the groundbreaking, genius theology of "Mannie" Kant
great theological lectures by probably the greatest western philosopher who ever lived. woo-hoo! go Kant! this book is NOT INTIMIDATING! I was worried this would be a difficult read, but it is very straight-forward and the overall literary structure is not nearly as convoluted as his critiques and essays. If you like Immanuel Kant's school of thought and are interested in rational theology, then by all means buy this great book.

An incredible "real life story" filled with inspiring examples of Business, Family, Personal and Spiritual leadership..of the highest order. I am an avid reader of business and spritual writings and found this "Real World/Real Life" book of one mans journey and life, to be more awe inspiring and life enhancing than any other I've ever read. It has the makings of a GREAT movie! The book tells the story of a young man Allen Morris who lives through the depression and goes on to NY to stake his claim as an ambitious young man. He then is called to serve his country in war and travels through life embracing challenges and opportunities. Through it all...he dedicates his life to serving others and God. Mr. Morris achieves significant success in commercial real estate development and impacts many whom he comes in contact with..in very significant ways through his model of integrity, enthusiasm, spirit and leadership. A wonderful story and gift which should be read by any individual heading up a company, family, church or country. This IS the real thing and a true legacy to his family and all Americans.

Les mondes parallèlles de Woody Allen
Published in Paperback by University Press of the South, Inc (01 January, 2003)
Author: Dirk Clara
Average review score:

A Masterful study
This is the best study I ever read about Woody Allen's work (and I've read every book in English or French that has been written about him). Mister Clara seems to have memorized every frame and line of dialogue of every flick by the great Woody and he has read hundreds of articles in English, French, Spanish and German about his topic. This extended knowledge allowed him to write an astonishingly thoughtful and insightful work that shall be immensely helpful to anyone interested in Woody Allen's movies, plays and short-stories (the chapter about "Crimes and Misdemeanors" is particularly impressive). Mister Clara writes about the complex relationships between Allen's heroes and heroines, the influence of Philip Roth, Allen's tendency to film his stories in a way that reflects his main character's personality or behavior, his characters urge to escape the "real world" in all sorts of ways to enter an "unreal" parallel world, etc. A great book and a must-read for anyone who loves Woody and reads French well-enough.

Very cute
My little girl loves this book! This book features Cookie Monster as he prepares for a dinner party for some of his friends. The story is told in rhyme and it's full of pictures of Sesame Street characters. There are a few "interactive" parts whre Cookie Monster addresses the reader. This is destined to become a quick favorite.

Lewis and Clark and the Image of the American Northwest
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (December, 1991)
Author: John Logan Allen
Average review score:

Brilliant
A truly fascinating read of exploration and attempted location of the mythical water passage across the western U.S. from the geographical perspective. From the mid 1600's up to and including the Lewis and Clark expedition, geographical mappings of the west were theoretical and conjectural, leading to misconceptions and inaccuracies in cartography and images of unexplored lands. With loyal support and backing from Jefferson, Lewis and Clark set out to locate the legendary water route across America for U.S. commerce, while at the same time collecting and taking notes on cartography, botany, zoology, geology, ethnology and natural resources, along with postulating future agricultural possibilities for the nation. Although the image of a fabled water passage was shattered and the idea of a totally agrarian society was somewhat fragmented, the Lewis and Clark expedition did succeed in being the premier stepping-stone for western expansion and maintained the imagery process of the west right up to the present time. A spellbinding read.

Life Plan- Finding Your Real Self: The Journey Through Life
Published in Hardcover by Inner Search Foundation (June, 1991)
Authors: R. Allen Walls and Chris Meer
Average review score:

An Approach to Self Discovery
I, like the author, set out on a journey into self discovery in order to answer the question "who exactly am I and why am I here"? I questioned "what makes us who we are"? Where do all these ideas and beliefs of mine come from and how can I manage to change recurring situations I get caught up in creating that seem completely out of my control to do so? Was I taught these rules of life? Did I think them up on my own? Where did they come from and how did I happen to assimilate them and start believing them to be true without ever really questioning them? Are they really true at all? This book helped me find answers to some of my most pressing questions.

I found this book to be a well organized step-by-step process of mental awareness of the origins of Self unfolding as I read it, taking me down a guided path of self discovery. In it I found rational explanations and tools for better understanding my Self and why I act, feel and think the way I do and it's really helped me discover who I AM underneath all the other stuff I've been buried under. The examples and tools provided assisted me with individual self analysis which I found to be very helpful as I'd wanted to modify certain behavior patterns and this helped me to become aware of where they had actually originated from. It took me to the root cause of the matter, better enabling me to make corrections at the source. It walks you through the initial child mind rationalizations and base formations of experience all the way up into adulthood and how these ideas and thoughts create what happens to us in our outer world.

I especially like the viscious circle "endless loop" scenario explanations and how we create these for ourselves. What a great way to put things by drawing them out like this. It made it easier for me to actually see what I was doing by using this method. I use it now when I see myself creating recurring situations in my life. It helps me to identify the root cause, change my behavior/reaction to something and move on from there. Very easy once you practice with it and get the hang of it.

I would recommend this book for readers who are interested in psychology of the self, self discovery and self discovery methods, metaphysics, those who see cyclical events happening in their lives and want to take ownership and change them from happening, anyone who "hates" their lives and wants to change, those interested in how we manifest and create our own circumstances and anyone else looking to further their understanding of themselves or embark along a path such as this. I've found it a great reference tool. Note: being honest with oneself while reading this book is a MUST.
